When Will The Boeing 787 Dreamliner Make Its Debut?
The Boeing 787 Dreamliner, the American aviation and aerospace company’s newest commercial aircraft, is expected to make its first flight in May 2008. The largest parts of the first 787 aircraft are being assembled in Charlestown, South Carolina. Some of the parts, however, were manufactured in Japan are presently being shipped to the US. The Boeing 787 Dreamliner is a twin-engined jet to be used on long-haul flights, with a capacity to seat up to 330 passengers. Japan’s All Nippon Airways was the first to purchase the Boeing 787. According to plans, the Japanese carrier will begin flying the 50 planes currently on order in May 2008. Other airlines that have placed orders for Boeing’s new aircraft to be delivered in 2008 include Air New Zealand, Air China, Air India, China Eastern Airlines, China Southern Airlines, Hainan Airlines, Hong Kong Airlines, LOT Polish Airlines, US-based Northwest Airlines, Australia’s Quantas, Royal Air Maroc and Shanghai Airlines.
