When will the Australian Technical Colleges start taking students?
The first Australian Technical Colleges will commence in 2006. All 25 Colleges will be operational by 2008. Starting dates in each region will depend on, preparedness, local circumstances and whether the Colleges are established on new or existing sites. Colleges will not necessarily begin operations as fully functioning Australian Technical Colleges. Key features, such as the core academic curriculum and trade competencies, and the governance arrangements and ‘badging’ as Australian Technical Colleges, will be in place from commencement. However, there will be scope to build to a full student body and a complete range of trade offerings after commencement.
