When will the AT&T 3G wireless network be available in the Wilmington area?
Here’s an update: The AT&T third-generation network went into service in the Wilmington area in October 2009. Launch of the network to support advanced mobile devices and applications also included the activation of two new cell sites, in the Ogden area of New Hanover County and at Oak Island in Brunswick County, according to an AT&T spokesman.. AT&T said in February that it plans to launch 3G in New Hanover County and in late June called for a time frame of the fourth quarter of 2009. The expansion of service does not include Pender or Brunswick counties, though Jacksonville already has 3G service from AT&T. Verizon has had 3G service here for more than two years.
