When will Peter Pan Peanut Butter be available again?
According to an April press release from ConAgra Foods, the company that owns Peter Pan Peanut Butter, they are renovating the manufacturing plant in Georgia where the salmonella outbreak occurred and implementing additional safety measures to prevent it from occurring in the future, and they expect to re-open that plant in August. But Peter Pan may return to store shelves sooner than that: While these plantwide upgrades are being put in place, the company will partner with a third-party, co-manufacturing facility that meets all standards for producing safe and quality products. ConAgra Foods will begin shipping Peter Pan Peanut Butter to retailers this summer.
In February 2007, Peter Pan and Great Value (Wal-Mart’s store brand) peanut butters were linked to 425 cases of salmonella across the United States.
