When will OlympusNet-Qwest DSL be available in Port Angeles?
Qwest estimates that DSL will be available in Port Angeles in October. We will post the latest date for Qwest’s turning up their equipment. Once this happens, it will take us one to two weeks to test our equipment and start DSL service. What is OlympusNet-Qwest DSL? An “always on” high speed Internet connection that is up to 24 times faster than dialup, it uses an existing phone line and allows simultaneous voice calls and Internet use. Availability depends on phone line conditions. Customers currently need to be less than 3 miles from the Qwest Central Office located near the Port Angeles Courthouse. (Qwest is now installing long range DSL in some parts of the country that will greatly expand DSL’s coverage by going digital to the neighborhood, then copper to the house.)
