National Bank began issuing smart Client Cards in November 2010 on a progressive basis according to the timetable determined by the banking industry. All clients will be issued new smart Client Cards by December 2012. Client Cards with a magnetic stripe remain a secure payment method and will continue to be accepted in Canada and abroad wherever smart-card technology is not yet available.
