When will Jenna Bush Hager first appear on the Today Show?
In the tradition of Meagan McCain, Mary Cheney and other daughters of prominent Republicans who’ve waded into the media waters, former first daughter Jenna Bush Hager will try her luck in broadcast on NBC’s “Today,” AP reports. The 27-year-old teacher at a Baltimore charter school, who has already penned two books, will serve as a once-a-month contributor on topics such as education, Jim Bell, the show’s executive producer, told the wire. He said the show decided to give Hager a spin after she’d come off as a “natural presence” in two previous appearances on “Today” to promote her book for young adults, “Ana’s Story,” about a young woman born with HIV/AIDS the former president’s daughter met while working as a UNICEF intern in Latin America. Her first story for “Today” is expected to air sometime this month. Sources: http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0809/26596.
Former first daughter Jenna Bush Hager is about to enter the world of the press. Jim Bell, executive producer of NBC’s Today Show, reports that Hager will join the show as a special correspondent. “I think she can handle it,” said Bell. “I think she knows something about pressure and being under some scrutiny. When she came here for a handful of appearances [to promote her books], she knocked it out of the park.” Hager, who has authored one book and co-authored another with her mother, Laura Bush, is currently a teacher, a job she intends to keep. She was approached by Bell about the TV job. “It wasn’t something I’d always dreamed to do,” she said. “But I think one of the most important things in life is to be open-minded and to be open-minded for change.” Jenna and her husband, Henry Hager, live in Baltimore. Her first on-screen foray behind the mic is expected to take place in September.
