When will it need for replastering the wall?
When damp rises in a wall salts and minerals can come up from the soil below. When the moisture evaporates these salts remain in the plaster and under humid conditions (under humid conditions only) these salts can attract moisture. This argument is widely misused in the damp proofing industry in the UK. Walls usually do not need replastering, however when injecting a chemical damp proof course into a wall, it is virtually impossible to achieve the desired waterproof layer everywhere in the wall. Replastering with waterproof plaster will hide this limitation of chemical dampproof course and with it the damp. It will just be a matter of time before the damp becomes visible again which is often 7-8 years depending on the quality of the plastering.
