When will IBM support the XQuery standard in Information Integrator?
Perna: XQuery is close to being finalized, but it’s not finalized yet. We will be supporting the standard when it is closed. Today we support SQL and Web services. So if you have real-time information coming in through a Web services, for example, we can integrate it from any database. And we can query XML through the SQL extensions. VB: What is your target market for this technology and where do you anticipate the initial uptake in demand? Perna: Systems integrators and ISVs are our target markets for the technology. In reality it is the solution providers who are doing all the hand coding of connectors to this information. We will see this type of technology evolve pretty quickly for applications such as customer care or for extending data warehouses. And in instances where you want to pull in a data source from somewhere else, don’t you don’t want to move it, just access it in real time through a Web services.
