When Will Generic Oramorph SR Be Available?
It is not clear when a generic version of Oramorph SR will be available. There are no unexpired patents for this medication. In fact, a similar medication (MS Contin®) is available in generic form. However, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) does not consider MS Contin and Oramorph SR to be equivalent. As a result, generic MS Contin is not equivalent to Oramorph SR. Neither MS Contin nor its generics have been shown to release morphine in the exact same way that Oramorph SR does.
