3D drivers can be very time consuming to create. Many companies have invested several to tens of man years in their existing 3D drivers. PI is working with board and chipset vendors to try to accelerate the development or porting of 3D drivers, but it is not possible to predict when any of these will become available to end users. PI’s sample implementation of the DRI will contain only a partially implemented 3D driver, just sufficient to allow developers to learn how to use the DRI in their 3D drivers.
