When will Couty Alexander be prosecuted for the murder of his wife Christa Ann Baker Alexander?”
Things are moving fast at the Livingston Parish Courthouse as testimony began Wednesday morning in the trial of a man accused of killing his pregnant wife. Couty Alexander is on trial for second degree murder in the death of his wife, Christa Alexander. The 24-year-old expectant mother was found dead at their home in Colyell in June 2008. Responders to the murder scene were the first ones to take the stand in the packed courtroom. Earlier Wednesday morning, jurors saw crime scene photos of the murder scene. There is lots of interest in this case. Christa was four months pregnant when she died. Couty’s involvement in the murder is not really in question in this case. The defense will try to get him a lesser sentence than mandatory life, which is the sentence for second degree murder. A jury of six men and six women will decide his fate. Alexander, 22, 18059 Watts Road, Livingston, was arrested Sunday and booked into Parish Prison on a count of second-degree murder count in the slaying, deputies have said. Alexander confessed that he shot his wife as she gathered clothes in her closet for church, Jason Ard, chief of operations for the Sheriff’s Office, said Monday. Deputies said Couty Alexander staged the crime scene at the couple’s home to make it look like a burglary-homicide. Deputies said drawers and cabinets were opened and the house was ransacked.
