One of the highlights of this year’s festival, Corea will present a selection from his amazing repertoire on Friday, June 25 at The Epcor Centre’s Jack Singer Concert Hall. An enigmatic and inspired performer, Corea’s is truly an easily recognized style, whether sounding through a synthesizer or not. Corea has been a serious force since his recordings in the 1960s (Tones for Joan’s Bones, Sundance) all the way through to his 16th Grammy Award win in January 2010 for the album Five Peace Band – Live. For his lucky recording partners, from the young and exciting jazz pianist “Hiromi” (Hiromi Uehara) to the brilliant Bobby McFerrin to soulful vibraphonist Gary Burton, Corea has set the bar for innovation, perfection and style.
