Normally the preserve of treacly boy bands and grandmas’ favourites in comfortable knitwear, an album of seasonal songs and carols by Bob Dylan has been released by Sony today. Christmas in the Heart features Dylan applying his unique growl and whine to 15 songs. None are written by him – the album features popular tracks from the 1940s and Fifties that would have dominated the December airwaves when Dylan was growing up as Robert Zimmerman in Minnesota; songs such as Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas, Here Comes Santa and Winter Wonderland.
