When will an NFL team sign usain lightning bolt?

Actually I can sum the answer in 2 words Renaldo Nehemiah. Renaldo was a world class hurdler and at one point held the world’s record holder in the hurdles. He tried out for the NFL and and was signed by the 49ers back in 1982. He played 2 seasons with the 49ers and didn’t have a very successful career. I think NFL teams remember him and will be hesitant on bringing in someone like that. Renaldo wasn’t the first “sprinter” to sign with an NFL team. There was also Jimmie “Oops” Hines who had world class speed but got the nickname “Oops” because he wasn’t very good at catching the ball. The only other track star I recall that had maybe a decent NFL career was Willie Gault but he was a better kick returner than a wide reciever.

More than likely never. If you think about it, you’ll hear of some of the wide receivers out there knocked as ‘track stars’, meaning they have great running speed but don’t have the other skills that are actually more useful to an NFL player, like the ability to change speeds and directions quickly without injury, the eye/hand coordination to match speeds and place themselves to catch a ball and possibly they lack the ability to take many direct hits or avoid the hits. Track and field stars are trained to accelerate and keep going in virtually a linear fashion, which is all well and good if you only run straight routes and there is no defensive player making you change directions, but otherwise it is a useless skill in the NFL. That is why Bolt will not be in the NFL..plus the fact he doesn’t seem interested.

Uh never. Its not the same speed.Lets use baseball for example. Usain Bolt could never beat even an average major leaguer running on contact from 1st to 2nd. There has been many times in the past when NFL teams have tried to develop world class sprinters with no football experience. It has never turned out well. They simply dont have the on the field speed you would expect. Its not the same style of running. A sprinter is still building speed at 50m a football player has to be able to reach maximum speed in a few steps and be able to change direction on a dime. Players who have both Football and track experience like Darrel Green now those guys you go after.

Probably never, the Giants worked him out, I dont think the Cowboys did… he does have the NFL size….6’5″ 190lbs…. It doesnt seem like he has that NFL swagger, but he is hella fast some players of the same size or kind of similar to ….

He wouldn’t make it…He is fast, and would be a good WR, assuming he could catch… …that is, until he got tackled by an NFL defender…Then he would be out for the season and his career would be over in the NFL…
