SSD’s are inevitably gaining more popularity than regular HDDs due to their relatively higher resilience and compactness. Active Media Products has revealed plans to unveil the Predator-X7 SATA-II SSDs with their proprietary wear leveling intelligence. These 2.5 inch SSDs will be out in four capacities ranging from 32GB to 256GB. Each will have a 3GB/s SATA-II interface and an in-built Jmicron JM612 controller. The integration of the 8-channel flash controller and 128MB of DRAM cache assists the device in gaining sequential read and write speeds of 230MB/s and 180MB/s, respectively. “One big advantage of this controller is its support for a USB 2.0 port, which can be used for cloning the contents of your old hard drive onto the Predator X7. The mini USB port makes installation and setup a lot faster and easier,” declaimed Jerry Thomson, VP of Sales, Active Media Products.
