When were submarines used widespread as a weapon?
They were actually used as a weapon in WW2 more than any other time in history. Now, there are more of them but they are used as a deterent. Submarines are restricted to the oceans and seas but as they became more modern they were able to go further from home to patrol and carry out their mission. In WW2 they came all the way across the atlantic and the pacific oceans. Their Weapons range was also limited then. It was an “If you can see it, you can shoot it.” deal. These days they are as far reaching and widespread as you can get with the missles that they carry. Now it is “You can run but you can’t hide.” Still, only the most powerful countries have submarines so they are not owned by everyone.
