When were seat belts first used in airplanes?
The seat belt, for primary use in airplanes, was first created by Seth H. Stoner. He was in the Navy during World War II. He was a Lt. Commander based in Washington and primarily focused on how to reduce the number of accidents and fatalities of pilots taking off and landing on aircraft carriers. He worked with a team and the seat belt was the result of their work. The seatbelt did not appear in cars until later in the 1950’s.
