When was Tognum AG established?
The Tognum Group resulted from the sale of the off-highway activities of the DaimlerChrysler Group to EQT, a private equity group, in 2006. The key element of the off-highway activities of DaimlerChrysler AG at that time was the MTU Friedrichshafen Group. As early as 1909, engines for airships (Zeppelins) had been built in Friedrichshafen and, commencing in 1923, the company began to design and manufacture high-performance diesel engines. The roots of the Tognum Group we know today thus go back over 100 years.
