When was the trim tag on A.O. Smith bodies attached and the body sequence number determined?
A.O. Smith body trim tags were installed at Ionia, at the end of their Paint Shop; the “A-” body number has no relationship to the car’s VIN, which was assigned (and the VIN plate installed) at St. Louis when the A.O. Smith bodies were brought up from the accumulator in the basement and introduced into the Trim Line.
