BOPF has campaigned for a free bus pass ever since the Forum was established in 1993. At last, with the general election approaching, we have a breakthrough. The government has announced a national (off-peak) free bus pass with effect from 2006. It is great news, but it is still just an announcement. We have to secure the promise, and there is still the possibility for wheels to come off during implementation.
