When was the last referendum in District 39 and is the timing between referenda typical among neighboring districts?
District 39’s last referendum was in 1998. The other New Trier sender districts have all passed referenda since 2000, with both Winnetka 36 and Kenilworth 38 passing two each. When the referendum was passed in 1998, the Board of Education projected the need for another referendum in five years, a typical time span for school districts in this area. However, we focused on reorganizing resources and increasing efficiencies so we were able to go 13 years before having to go back to the community with another referendum.
