Editor: I don’t often start a letter quoting two of my own sentences, but here goes: “What a mess and, oh how hard it is to carry on an intellectual conversation with the selectively deaf and blind (I do have some stories on this one), and: “Personally, I have little use for beliefs/opinions unless I find the same built upon a foundation of observable or correctly recorded historical facts.” What those words mean is: when I read or hear an opinion or belief stated, I am personally driven to check the statement for truth, fact, and reality – all are one and the same. Plus, when you hear a charge using the word/term “diatribe,” watch out. Diatribe is defined as: “A thunderous verbal attack.” Such an attack is usually accompanied with further word/terms, such as: vindictive name-calling, denigration and histrionics, etc. Our world is filled with such examples found hourly on talk radio, the internet blogs and even television media – think people like Limbaugh, Savage and Beck – mentioning
