When was the final HIPAA Security regulation released?
The Final Security Rule has not yet been published. Once the final regulation is issued, NNMC will have 26 months to comply. The proposed rule was issued on 12 August 1998. The complete draft of the regulation is available online at the Department of Health & Human Services website. Although the Security regulations are not issued, there are components of security compliance that are necessary to meet the Privacy regulations compliance date on 14 April 2003.
