When was the Clint Eastwood movie, “Escape From Alcatraz” first released?
Escape from Alcatraz. Cast : Clint Eastwood, Patrick McGoohan. Director : Don Siegel … Released Date : June 22, 1979. DVD Released Date : January 07, 2003 … I first saw this movie when I was real young and didn’t remember it much. … Escape from Alcatraz is a Very Good movie about the only man to have escaped from the world’s most famous prison. Clint Eastwood once again puts in another great performance (as does Patrick McGhoon). It’s great watching the build up to the prison breakout. My only slight niggle is that the film ought to have been a little bit longer. But overall, it certainly stands up to repeated viewing and comes well recommended. If you are considering purchasing this on DVD be warned, it comes with no extras. Shame on you Paramount.
Escape from Alcatraz is a 1979 American thriller film, directed by Don Siegel and starring Clint Eastwood. The film co-stars Fred Ward, and also features Patrick McGoohan as the suspicious, vindictive warden. The film is based on the non-fiction book Escape from Alcatraz by J. Campbell Bruce. It chronicles the story of Frank Morris (Eastwood) and brothers John (Ward) and Clarence Anglin (Jack Thibeau), who have the distinction of being possibly the only people to ever escape from the Alcatraz prison. It also features the film debut of Danny Glover. A cold, atmospheric thriller, the film captures many of the difficulties of prison life and the conditions of Alcatraz prison before it was closed down permanently, shortly after the escape. There is some hint at the end of the film that the escape was successful, but in fact it remains a mystery as to whether the escapees succeeded or not. Sources: http://en.w
