When was the attack on Pearl Harbor?
The attack started on Dec. 7, 1941, 7:55 am. Dive-bombers started the attack, followed by torpedo planes, bombers, and fighters. Since the attack took place on Sunday, many of the US ships were undermanned. No serious counter attack could be executed. 2,323 people were killed, over 180 aircraft were destroyed and more vessels were damaged. President Franklin Roosevelt called it the ‘date that will live in infamy.’ Congress declared war on Japan on Dec. 8, 1941.
