When was Ronald reagan elected president?

1980 and started his term in 81 and remained in office til 1989. I miss Ronald Reagan… I was so lucky to have served in the military while he was in office and, in my opinion, that is the strongest that this country was and ever will be. He had this small brass plaque on his desk that was given to him by his good friend Marion Morrison… Of course everyone knows Marion Morrison as John Wayne… The plaque remained on Reagan’s desk, while he was in office his entire eight years. The plaque read; “There’s no limit to what a man can do or where he can go if he doesn’t mind who gets the credit.” I recently took a tour of the Reagan library and talked to a docent there who didn’t realize the history behind that small plaque. He was very appreciative of that bit of history.
