January 31, 1919. He was born Jack Roosevelt Robinson in Cairo, Georgia. He was the youngest of five children. Jackie’s mother was named Mallie Robinson. After her husband left her, Mallie moved her family to Pasadena, California. Jackie and his brothers were very talented athletes. Jackie played every sport in high school, and he played many sports at Pasadena Junior College. One time Jackie competed in the broad jump in the middle of a baseball game.
