Liner paper is great on walls that have cracks, uneven surfaces or that ‘pebbling effect’ that you find on old plaster walls. From what I hear, it works well on brick and paneled walls as well. Just use a good quality vinyl paste and make sure your seams are cemented down and not overlapping. Otherwise the seams are going to show through the decorative layer. Some vinyl papers are heavy enough that you may not need that extra layer. Just check with the folks where you bought the paper.
