When video editing, how do I get rid of an audio tic pattern?

What you need to do is figure out why your camera is making that noise and prevent it from happening. Easier said than done, but once the audio is recorded you’re probably stuck. You could try to run the audio track through a good sound editor, like Gold Wave or Sound Forge. It will give you a graphical display of your audio and you may be able to spot the ticks on there. Then you could manually reduce it on a frame by frame basis, but the amount of effort involved would be tremendous. You could also try applying one of the built-in noise reduction filters, but they won’t usually do that great a job on this kind of thing. They can help, but you’ll probably end up flattening your audio to unacceptable levels. So there aren’t any good solutions for a home video enthusiast that I’m aware of.
