When travelling in Europe what are cheap travelling tips?

As an expat living in Paris, I beg to differ with the above answer. The best way to save money while travelling Europe is to not take trains that often, particularly not to buy into the Euro Rail craze.

You are better off buying a European bus pass, such as the one offered by Eurolines. It works just like the Euro Rail pass, but at a fraction of the price.

Also, airfares are quite cheap in Europe, thanks to airlines such as EasyJey, Ryanair and Vueling, just to name a few. It is possible to fly from one major European city to another for 20 euro one way. Sometimes cheaper. Just watch out for the luggage allowance these airlines have: that’s how they get you!

If you still prefer to experience train travel in Europe, but you want to save money, make sure you buy your train tickets way beforehand, about 2 to 3 months before you plan to travel. This is how you will get the cheapest fares. You can buy tickets by going to the national railway’s website for each country you plan to visit. They usually mail them or email them to you, although you can also pay for them and go pick them up in person at the train station before your departure.

What is your question?
