Let’s be realistic; the Amalfi Coast has a stunning coastline and a world famous coastal road. This means that during July & August driving and parking in or near any of the main venues will be problematic. However it has an excellent public transport infrastructure on land and by sea. If you prefer to drive it is not as chaotic as its reputation suggests, there are just coach drivers who drive the road many times daily, keep your wits about you and give them space! Inland roads become far less problematic (the road to Ravello is of course “entertaining” but ultimately worth it. If you want to visit the ancient sites (e.g. Pompeii) then Spring (April/May) or Autumn (Sept/Oct) are obviously favourable. Prices may be lower (night time temperatures more refreshing)and reaching and parking near the main towns will be easier.
