When the government convinced some people to move from east to west what kind of land was it?
The people got convinced to move first by the lust for gold. When that died, there was still the desire for farmland, since we were a pretty agricultural world back then. Like the east, some areas were good for farming and some weren’t. Most of the soil was richER for not having been used for farming, much (some indians did a LITTLE), but for anyone specific who moved, the answer would probably be the lower middle class who WANTED more money but who could still AFFORD to move. The upper middle class didn’t see much need to move, so stayed east, until Hollywood (except for those who HAD gotten rich from the gold rush. Then they bought land from the feds that they then sold to the lower middle class who were coming).
