When someone gets deceived by false teachings is it their fault or the teachers fault?
The teacher is at fault for teaching wrongly, and the student is at fault for not checking out the information given…. If I tell you that only people wearing blue pants will go to heaven, and you follow that with no collaboration from other sources, that is your own fault… If you read about Jesus in the Bible, and also see that he is mention in the Koran, and other early writings, then you can pretty well assume he existed…You find what he said in the Bible, and these things are mentioned in other early writing, and attributed to him, then he probably said them….whether you believe they get you into heaven or not, is where faith comes in.. For Christians the real question usually isn’t will this get me into heaven… it is…. does Heaven exist?
We must always find out for our selves which is the right way to go. Many people are deceived by their beliefs in false religions. Our ignorance is a sin in itself and because God has furnished us with His Holy Word which is contained in the Holy Bible, we have no excuse to why we do not make it our business to find out the Truth. If we do not do anything else in this life we must find God and know that we are on the right path which leads to everlasting life in Heaven. You wil find out all these answers in the Holy Bible. God has told us all we need to know. Read God’s Holy Word for yourself.
It’s a little of both. The deceiver and the deceived have responsibility. The deceiver, of course, knows he is telling lies, and has the greater responsibility. The deceived must take the responsibility to verify, to the best of his ability, what he is taught. God’s Word teaches: “Prove ALL things; keep that which is good.” — 1 Thessalonians 5:21 We have a responsibility to test, research and prove whether or not what we’ve been told or taught is true or good. This is brought out in many places in the Bible. Because there ARE false prophets and deceivers in the world. And they pose as trustworthy people, even ministers and apostles of God. However, God has great mercy, and is well aware of our limits and weaknesses. And though some will fall prey to deception, God will straighten everything out in the end. – . – . – . – . – . – . – . – . – . – . – . – . – . – . – . – . – . – . – . – . – . – . – . – .
