When should I use MoldTech 50?

With each operational cycle, hard water minerals from the temper water get exchanged for sodium and potassium in the bentonite clay. With repeated cycles, the concentration of calcium, sodium and magnesium ions (from the temper water) will build up in the bentonite clay matrix and slow the hydration process. When the system has become overwhelmed with calcium, sodium and magnesium ions, SM-50 is used to regenerate the ion exchange capacity of the clay matrix and improve the ability of the clay to effectively attract and absorb water. The frequency of SM-50 addition is determined by the number of operational cycles and the quality (hardness) of the temper water. Consult with your MoldTech representative to determine a dosage program for your specific operation.
