When should I use DXO Optics Pro instead of Adobe’s Lightroom?

I use Lightroom about 98% of the time to process my RAW files. It is fast, it is easy, and it is cross-platform! However, there are times where you just cannot get your images to stitch properly, to generate your spherical images and spherical HDRs… DXO has scientifically analyzed lens defects of the most common cameras and lens combinations and can reverse/correct problems with your lenses that you weren’t even aware you had a problem with! For example, most lenses have a certain amount of barrel or pincushion distortion. DXO Optics Pro can go in and correct your images (including other things like chromatic aberration) and then once you “processed” these files (TIFFs for example) then you can go in and stitch those much more easily and accurately! The drawback is that DXO is a bit clunky and slow to process your images, but the results are definitely worth it! If accuracy is more important that time, then DXO is definitely the way to go.
