Answer. No.1 should not be fed with extra seaweed. If you are feeding seaweed but want to start feeding No.1 you should remove the seaweed from the horses feed ration before you start feeding No.1. Seaweed is high in iodine and, if overfed, it could lead to an iodine overload, which should definitely be avoided in pregnant mares. However No.1 is perfectly safe for pregnant mares! Q.
