When should I commence and cease supplementing Alleviate in conjunction with Alleviate Xtra Cal?
A. If you have not been feeding much or any extra calcium in the past, it is best to feed Alleviate Xtra Cal for three to four weeks prior to commencing Alleviate. I have found that you get the best results from Alleviate if you raise the calcium levels first with Alleviate Xtra Cal and then also introduce Alleviate. After your horse’s issues have reduced or disappeared, you can begin to reduce the amount of Alleviate until it is no longer required. Any horses in work, foals, etc. should be on Alleviate Xtra Cal permanently. If they have had deficiencies in the past, they should be supplemented with Alleviate Xtra Cal even if they are turned out for a period of time. It is a good idea to keep Alleviate on hand to give to your horse the night before or for a few conseuctive days prior to transporting your horse.
