When should I bury a story?
If you click the “Alert…” link on a story, you’ll get a list of options to describe the reason for burying the story. They are: * R1 – Spam – it’s blatant spam * R2 – Plagiarism – it’s pretty much a word-for-word rip-off of another article * R3 – Inappropriate – off-topic, or could be deemed offensive * R4 – Broken Link – the link is broken * R5 – Duplicate – the story has been submitted before (and the first one was better) * R6 – Inaccurate – the title or description is misleading or inaccurate * R7 – Wrong Category – the story is in an unsuitable category A story that has been buried by a user will show a flag next to its title. Hovering over the flag will show a tooltip with the reason the story was last flagged. The flag is red for stories with 1 or 2 socs, yellow for 3 or more socs, and the flag disappears if the story is promoted to the Top Stories page. You cannot un-bury a story. Note: R1 = Reason 1. The ‘R’ numbers show up in the Live display under “action”, e.g. buried R1.
