A Red Book DTDs incorporate the MathML DTD by reference. MathML makes use of a namespace declaration that some versions of Microsofts MSXML parser object to (MSXML v3sp4, and later). Prior to MS Windows XP sp2, it was possible to overcome the problem by ensuring that MSXML v3sp3 or earlier was being used. With Windows XP sp2, that is no longer possible since MSXML is now in the core of the OS and cannot be replaced by an older version. To avoid the error, it is necessary to include in the Red Book DTDs an entity declaration that overrides an entity declaration that is in the MathML DTD. All the DTDs in the current release of the Red Book Viewer have been so modified.
