When referring to magnetic stripe encoding, what is the difference between a high coercivity (Hi-Co) stripe and low coercivity (Lo-Co) stripe?
Coercivity is a measurement of magnetic density, in less technical terms the amount of energy it will take to change a magnetic field. Magnetic flux density is measured in the SI unit Oersteads (Oe), which measures low coercivity as 0-300 Oe and high coercivity as 300-3000 Oe. So to sum up in simple terms, a Hi-Co card will keeps it data longer than a Lo-Co card. What kind of camera do I need if sending photos? Any digital camera that produces a jpg format photo that can be loaded into your PC. Is a camera really all I need? Yes, however you may choose to use a tripod and screen. (If not using a screen please ensure you photograph the subject against a non-busy background…..i.e. a plain wall). Can I add artwork such as my company logo on the card? Yes, simply email any artwork you wish to add to the card to cardservices@rmceg.com and we will create a template and forward it to you digitally by email for approval. If you have a layout we require to follow then you may forward a sketch
