When processing Microsoft Office files, do I need to have Microsoft Office installed on the same computer as LinkFixerPlus?
It is not required that Microsoft Word, Excel or PowerPoint be installed on the same computer as LinkFixerPlus. That is because LinkFixerPlus performs “direct file access” to these types of files and does not need to use the Word, Excel or PowerPoint applications when working with these files. However, at this time, LinkFixerPlus does require the installation of the Microsoft Access application to process links contained within Access files. And because newer versions of Access are not fully backwards compatible with earlier versions of Access, it is necessary to install the same versions of the Access application as the versions of the Access files that are being processed. For instance, if you are processing Access 97 and Access XP files, then it is necessary to install both Access 97 and Access XP applications onto the same computer as LinkFixerPlus.
