When people talk about “the cloud” is that another term for hosted services?

A Hosting Service is a very simplified version of Cloud Computing. Most Host Platforms are very limited depending on the framework and front-end software. Cloud computing can be summed up as storing data, programs, and accessing storage services to an otherwise “off-site” area. The internet itself is basically a form of “Cloud Computing” as the data you’re accessing is not locally stored. A VPN (Virtual Private Network), where one accesses a work computer from their home computer is a form Cloud Computing, albeit a limited one. One of the best examples of Cloud Computing is Google Documents, whereas the documents and data are stored in the “Cloud” and can be accessed, modified, and shared by others.
