When people learn french, what are the benefits that come from learning that particular language?
There are many benefits from learning french. I took it in college and high school. Here are a few of the benefits that I have had. 1. Better understanding of English. William the Conqueror was French and french was used in the English court and by it’s nobleman for centuries. There are a large number of words and phrases in the English language that come directly from French. A few of these words are art, collage, competition, force, machine, police, publicity, role, routine and table. In fact it is estimated that there are over 30,000 French words in English. 2. It is one of the major world languages and used by people from all over the world French is either the primary or a secondary language for people from North America, South America, Europe, Africa and Asia. There was a time when French was the language of Diplomats, and while it has been surplanted by English, it is still very widely in use. I’ve personally spoken with native speakers of French from Quebec, Africa and France.
