Vaccination and disease history for varicella should be assessed back to childhood since most vaccines and vaccine-preventable diseases occur in childhood. If there is a question on whether a person had varicella or the vaccination, that person can either have serologic testing for immunity, or receive the 2-dose vaccination series. (Pink Book, 2004 p.
