When modifying a meeting request what is the difference between the “Save and Close” and “Send Update” icons?

The “Send Update” icon sends an update to attendees and closes the Meeting Modification window. The “Save and Close” icon gives the modifier the option to notify or not to notify attendees of the modification and closes the Meeting Modification window.
