When migrating, how far and how many miles per day do birds (eg. geese or similar size) travel? ?
Geese can and have been known to travel 300-500,miles in a day depending on the winds and the direction they are blowing. Geese and other birds often travel at night. Small finches up to 200 miles once again a lot depends on wind speed and direction. It has been known for some birds to cross from the U.S.A. to Ireland and the U.K. in a day but once again Wind speed and direction have played a part in this.
