When Microwaving does the shape of the container change how long it takes to cook the food?
It varies greatly on what the food is and how cold it is, moreso than the shape. In my experience something square-shaped (like those Ziploc containers) takes longer to cook/defrost because the microwaves take a long time to heat up the center. Something flat (like a covered plate) allows the microwaves to penetrate the food more evenly. Whatever it is, your best bet is to stop and stir every few minutes so that the hot parts get mixed in with the cold parts and they even each other out.
