When is the roundabout going to be built at Ogden Elementary School at Middle Sound Loop Road?
Several factors have delayed the roundabout construction project on Middle Sound Loop at Ogden Elementary School until at least 2010, says Patrick Riddle, project manager for the N.C. Department of Transportation’s Highway Division 3, which includes New Hanover County. “The original schedule was to build it in summer 2009, but due to the economic downturn and utility relocations, we have missed the window to let the project (contract) and have the construction this summer,” Riddle says. Barring other unforeseen roadblocks, construction on the roundabout is scheduled for the summer of 2010, Riddle says. That’s according to NCDOT’s current spending plan and timetable for local projects. Necessary utility relocations should be complete by the end of this summer, Riddle says. NCDOT’s Division 3 includes Brunswick, New Hanover, Pender, Bladen, Duplin, Onslow and Sampson counties.
