I know it’s common in North America to start potty training after 2 yrs of age. However, in the Czech republic, most people started training around the 14th month, and most kids were potty trained by the age of 2. We started potty training when my daughter was 8 months old – at the beginning, we tried to get her on the potty at times when she would usually poop, made a game out of it, squatting in front of her, and “pushed” with her, and associated the activity with the sound “eheh”. We all had great fun with that. She got the message, and started indicating when she needed to go. On her first birthday, she was running around dipper-free. We still gave her a dipper for the night, but I don’t even think she had any accidents during the day after her first birthday. It was totally painless – we just had to be around to take a fast action when the nature called.
